| Dip Stop compiles first quarter results of Shareasale Affiliate program |
Greetings. My name is Mike Harris. I am the internet marketing manager for Dipstop. Inc., a division of the Ralston Group in Selma Alabama. First we want to welcome all of our affiliate partners. This is our first monthly newsletter. Our intent is to share information and resources that will help you become successful, not only with our program, but with all of your marketing efforts.
First quarter results of our affiliate program are encouraging, not so much in total sales but in the information behind the data. Follow the data analysis and you will come to understand the scope of the opportunity we provide for affiliate marketers who work thier business.
Total Participants - 131 affiliates have joined our program. We have not done any promotions or marketing. These are folks who have found us, felt like we have an interesting opportunity and signed up. We make it an easy decision with automatic approval, automatic funding of payout pool, full inventory of creatives, and a competitive 20% payout on sales. According to Shareasale, 131 in three months is about normal for no marketing.
Active Participants - 47 affiliates have posted a banner or link and have at least one click. This is about 35% of total affiliates and 30% is average.
Sales - $2,671 in sales have been generated by 11 affiliates. 75% of those sales were generated by the top five and well over half by the top two. . . . So, what are the top two affiliates doing right?
Conversion Rates - Average ratio of click to sales by all affiliates is 11%. Our on-site conversion rate for unique visitors is 11.16%. Average conversion rate of our top five affiliates is 35%.
First and most obvious, they picked up our creatives and posted it on thier site. You can't compete if you don't get in the game. We have search optimized text content in our creatives inventory at Shareasale. It works! We also have a lot of good keywords already selected for you on our website at http://www.dipstop.com/affiliate_connection.html
Top affiliates use images. Potential buyers are much more likely to click on an image that reinforces the idea that they have found something of interest. Use the images in our inventory. They are designed to sell and they work!
Content is still king. Organic search is your most cost-effective method of sending traffic in this market. Create a unique page for our products. Pick a couple of keywords (key phrases) that you you can develope into 300-800 words of rich content for a single page. Use one of the keywords in the filename of the page separated by underscores. ex. http://www.yoursite.com/non_tobacco_chew.html. Use the same key phrase (without underscores) in the page title metatag. Use the two key phrases in a paragraph for the the description metatag. Use both of the key phrases in the keywords metatag. Use an H1 tag at the beginning of each section of content for each of the two key phrases. Use key phrases as anchor text in links on the page, and in descriptions and alt tags for images. each key phrase needs to be used enough to make up at least 2% and no more than 4% of total word count. In the example above, if you have 500 words of total content, the key phrase "non tobacco chew" needs to appear in the content of the page four times.
Yeah, . . it sounds hard and complicated. But its like anything else, its hard and complicated till you've done it a few times . . then its just hard. :<) . Seriously, the hardest part is the writing. Web marketing is like anything else. You get out of it what you put into it. This issue of the newsletter has taken a lot of the guesswork out of it for you. This will work for your other marketing efforts as well.
Dipstop has sales in the high six figure range over the internet from our website. We do three times that through our brick & mortar retail distribution channel. We are the number two competitor in our market and the only manufacturer working the affiliate sales channel. We are on the cutting edge of a gigantic opportunity. Most of our future customers don't yet know that our products exist. We are counting on you to tell them.
Happy selling!
